Mika Piirainen – Autumn/Winter 2009/10

In Mika Piirainen's collection, Maija and Kristina Isola's Kukkatori pattern (1970/2008) brings us summer blooms in the middle of winter.

The collection also ventures into the night of space; Maija Isola's Meteori design (1969) is the basis for Kristina Isola's Komeetta and Nova patterns (2008) which playfully float on the round shapes of the clothes.

The patterns in the collection also include Aino-Maija Metsola's Jäniksen vuosi (2008) featuring photograph-like rabbits leaping in the autumn twilight. The language of form in the collection's exciting cuts is representative of a renewed Piirainen, at his very best.
