Welcome to enjoy good company! Marimekko at Habitare and other Helsinki Design Week Events
The Marimekko philosophy emphasises ease and optimism, everyday happiness, the good moments spent with family and friends. All this can be experienced at the different Marimekko presentations during Helsinki Design Week from 5 to 13 September 2009.
On Marimekko’s stand 4d21 in the Ahead! design area at the Habitare fair from 9 to 13 September, the display features the new, unassuming Oiva tableware designed by Sami Ruotsalainen. The tableware, with patterns by Maija Louekari, is accompanied by new colourful fabrics, black and white classics, and a row of gorgeous duvet covers. The inviting Oiva tableware and a variety of Marimekko textiles can also be seen in the Lato home on Kannustalo’s stand 4d19.
At the DesignPartners 09 event in the Cable Factory cultural centre, Marimekko is involved in the Hot Potatoes workshop from 8 to 10 September. In the workshop, which is no doubt one of the most interesting happenings of the Design Week, three groups representing different areas of design – Anteeksi from Helsinki, We Work In A Fragile Material from Stockholm and Iced Architects from Moscow – face challenges set by the curators Vladimir Frolov, Katarina Siltavuori and Tomas Ivan Träskman. Unique Marimekko clothes and fabrics are available for purchase at the popular Design Market sale in the Cable Factory on 5 and 6 September.
